Her commissioned origami art landscapes are now part of public and private collections in hotels, schools, city halls and opera houses, as well as business and commercial environments around the world. Her commercial art credits range from paper animation for television advertisements to art celebrating historic downtown areas. 1:00PM 4:00PM "Mayan Procession" Painting Exhibition by Godfre Chicago artist Winifred Godfrey will exhibit her series of paintings titled “Mayan Procession” in Artworks’ upper gallery throughout the 2012 Festival of the Arts. A sequence of 14 life-size paintings, Godfrey’s collection presents images of Guatemalan villagers as if they pass the viewer in an All Soul’s Day parade. Combining traditional Mayan imagery with touches that describe the incorporation of modern Western culture into the lives of the paintings’ subjects, Godfrey’s colorful work has strong, dynamic visual appeal. Ultra-realistic and highly pleasing, her art celebrates both Mayan culture and the diversity within it. Godfrey will also provide remarks at the Opening Reception.
