A serious two-car wreck on M-46 resulted in both drivers being taken to a hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026.

The crash occurred around 6:07 p.m. on the curve between Jones Road and Federal Road in Reynolds Township.

According to Michigan State Police troopers, a 35-year-old man from Howard City was traveling westbound in a Pontiac and attempted to pass a vehicle slowing in its lane. The Pontiac then struck an eastbound BMW head-on. The BMW was driven by a 35-year-old man from Lakeview. Both drivers were taken to Butterworth Hospital for further treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
