On Friday, Aug. 21, at approximately 8:57 a.m., deputies from the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash in Big Rapids Township.
According to the investigation, the crash occurred at the intersection of Northland Drive and Gilbert Drive just south of Ferris State's campus. The investigation revealed that a 24-year-old woman from Big Rapids failed to stop at the red light. She crashed into a 17-year-old man from Newaygo who was turning left through a green light.
The 17-year-old was transported to Big Rapids hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies were assisted by Central Dispatch, Mecosta County EMS and Big Rapids Police.
