The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for overnight Saturday, Oct. 17.

Subfreezing temperatures as low as 31 degrees are expected from midnight to 8 a.m. The warning will be in effect for Isabella, Kent, Mecosta, Montcalm and Newaygo counties.

“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the NWS said in an alert. “Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.”
